Professional Experience:

Verizon: Senior App Support Manager/SQL DBA - Telecom Company (2009 – 2023)

Locations: Dallas, TX and Fort Myers, FL

Responsibilities:

- Led and managed a diverse technical team of up to 18 members for a significant project, optimizing least cost routing for domestic USA. This entailed server building, establishing a data center storage platform, and database development in a 64 TB environment with 10 Servers.

- Successfully migrated the system from a Windows/VMware/SQL environment to an external vendor solution running on Linux/MySQL with an Apache web frontend.

- Collaborated with team members to implement complex SQL scripts, leveraging my database and coding background.

- Achieved savings of over $5 million in route-optimized solutions using the expert solution.

- Awarded a special bonus of $1000 for contributions to the project and became a patent holder for the invention.

Verizon GTECC: Manager - Database Dev, Card Services, GTECC, Server Admin (1999 - 2009)

Location: Dallas/Grapevine, TX

Responsibilities:

- Lead SMS and Windows Server Domain Admin Engineer, assisting with a network migration project for GTECC.

- Led a team of database developers and programmers in the Card Services division.

- Managed database development projects, including SQL development and domain administration.

- Oversaw networking using Banyan Vines and Microsoft technologies on Windows and Linux servers.

 
ComEd: Windows IT Consultant outsourced via Interim Technology (1997 - 1998)

Location: Chicago, IL

Responsibilities:

- As a certified MCSE/CBS IT consultant, I led a project to automate company-wide workstation roll-outs using the Zero Admin Kit from Microsoft for our Client. This replaced the work of 100+ IBM consultants with a team of 5 people. I acted as the team lead, systems architect, and network engineer.

Persetel Networks: Server Support Technician and Banyan Vines and NT Server Admin (1995-1997)

Location: South Africa for Client: Caltex

Responsibilities:

- As the lead server and network administrator, I designed and implemented a nationwide Windows Network. This included migrating the client network from Banyan Vines Network Technology to a Microsoft Network Environment.

- Assisted with a nationwide rollout of a complex networking infrastructure, transitioning from a Banyan Vines to a Microsoft environment.

- Led the project as one of two MCSE engineers building and installing all required servers, applications, networking, and workstations.

Woolworths: PC and Server Support Engineer (1993-1995)

Location: Cape Town, South Africa

Responsibilities:

- Participated in the project "Leapfrog" to upgrade the environment in preparation for a state-of-the-art planning and buying system for 1000+ users. We had to install and test all 15 applications before rolling out more than

1000 workstation desktops to end users, continuing to provide setup for network printers, scanners, and other devices.

- Managed the Banyan Vines Network.

Cummings Software: Lead Programmer and Database Designer (1992-1993)

Responsibilities:

- Led a team of 3 on a coding project for a School Administration system in Clarion and Turbo Pascal.

 
EP Building Society: (Banking) - System Software Programmer and DmsII Database Admin (1991-1992)

Location: Port Elizabeth, South Africa

Responsibilities:

- Supported the Backup operations and data center in a Unisys A4 Mainframe Environment.

- Supported COBOL programmers with data access and system software tools.
